The Land Survey Section, through the Remote Sensing and Mapping unit, has a broad range of maps available for sale to clients, in different sizes and resolutions.


What Maps are available for sale?

Some of the Maps that we print are:

Topographic Line Maps - Scale of 1: 50 000. Hiu Island to Matthew/Hunter Island. The latest Topographic Maps available date from 2007.

3D Elevation Model Maps

Photomap - Scale of 1: 5 000. These Maps cover only the 6 provincial Headquarters.

Radar Imagery - Available Radar Imagery covers the whole of Vanuatu.

Aerial Photographs - Aerial Photographs in Black and White dating from 1943, 1955, 1962, 1971 and 1984/86. Colour Aerial Photographs are also available dating from 1993, 2001 and 2003.

Hydrographic Chart - Available Maps show Bathymetry for the whole of Vanuatu.

In what sizes and resolution can maps be printed at?

The Remote Sensing and mapping Unit has scanners that can scan maps up to a resolutions of 800 dpi (Dots per Inches).

It also has printers that can print in various paper sizes from A4 , A3, A2, A1 to A0 and in extra large size up to sizes of 1m X 1.20m.
