Land is a resource that requires proper management in order to steer the socioeconomic development of Vanuatu in a positive direction.
It is the Land Department's vision to manage land in a sustainable manner and ensure progress with equity and stability.
1. To facilitate the better management of land use.
2. To allocate and administer land leases.
3. To facilitate the resolution of land disputes to ensure sustainable development.
4. To facilitate property-related professionals.
5. To manage land and its resources, to promote the economic and social well being of the republic of Vanuatu.
There are 4 sections within the Department of Lands, they are:
Land Survey - This Section is responsible for managing Vanuatu's Cadastre and Provide Mapping and Surveying Services.

Land Management - It is in charge of facilitating and coordinating all land dealing in Vanuatu.
